The Future of Alcohol-Related Health

Where we have come from and where we’re going.

The Future of Alcohol-Related Health

Cheers is a brand that exists at the intersection of alcohol and health. We have named this category “alcohol-related health”. Our core belief is that when consumed properly, alcohol is a good thing — and by creating products and sharing knowledge centered around your alcohol-related health, we can empower our customers to lead happier and healthier lives.

The fact of the matter is that alcohol is a double-edged sword and can simultaneously lead to both positive and negative ends. As a company, we strive to increase the good while decreasing the bad.

This is of great importance, especially considering that alcohol is the second most used drug in the world behind only caffeine.

The sheer magnitude of alcohol usage is eye-opening for anyone who does not study this industry:

  • About 65% of Americans consume alcohol regularly (~130m Americans).
  • About 30% of Americans have had a drink within the last 24 hours. (~60m Americans).
  • Alcohol is over a $250b industry in the United States.
  • About 2 million Americans show up to work hungover on average on any given day.
  • Hangovers cost the US economy an estimated $180b a year due to lost workplace productivity.

To our knowledge, Cheers is the most successful alcohol-related health company in the United States. Since officially starting Cheers in 2017, we’re proud to have:

  • Sold 14m+ doses of our products to a growing base of customers, which today stands at 350,000+ people.
  • Co-invented novel technologies with a leading Ivy League university to improve upon the bioavailability of DHM.
  • Appeared on Shark Tank, raised millions of dollars from thousands of investors, and won a number of business awards.
  • Generated $30m+ in total revenue, recently generating a profitable year.

Since the beginning, the release of our products, educational content, and partnerships have been all guided by our mission of “Bringing people together by promoting fun, responsible, and health-conscious alcohol consumption” coupled with our vision of “A world where everyone can enjoy alcohol throughout a long, healthy, & happy lifetime.” I believe we’ve been able to help a lot of people accomplish this already and take steps in the right direction to continually prioritize alcohol-related health — which anchors the ethos of our entire brand.

Thinking about the future.

So far, Cheers has three main products:

  • Cheers Restore: An after-alcohol aid taken after consuming alcohol to support your liver & help you feel better the day after drinking.
  • Cheers Hydrate: An oral rehydration solution designed for rapid, effective, and safe rehydration after alcohol consumption.
  • Cheers Protect: A daily liver supplement designed to increase glutathione levels and support overall liver health.

However, the potential of the alcohol-related health category is far more expansive than just these three great products we’ve built the Cheers brand around so far.

Diagram of alcohol-related health with various topics and product categories.

For example, when it comes to feeling better after alcohol consumption, our current solutions are mostly used for prevention. But what happens if you drank alcohol while entertaining a client for work, forgot (or didn’t have any) of our current products, and now are muscling your way through early morning meetings? While ideally, you should have taken Cheers Restore, it doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t also have a relief product that can’t also be taken the next morning.

I’d be lying if I said that there haven’t ever been evenings where I personally forgot to take Cheers Restore and woke up the next morning cursing myself for forgetting, and then cursing myself more for having not yet invented a relief product! Because we’re drinkers ourselves, we experience the things that our customers experience first hand. And so we can draw from those experiences to craft products that we ourselves would find valuable and know would be of value to our customers as well.

Potential future products:

  • A product taken the day after drinking alcohol to feel better (“Cheers Relief”).
  • A multivitamin designed specifically for the nutritional needs of someone who drinks regularly—such as a few times a week (“Cheers Multi”).
  • Alcohol alternatives that taste and feel similar to liquor but don’t actually contain any alcohol (for when you’re looking to have less alcohol).
  • A healthier alternative to the energy drinks typically sold behind most bars (“Cheers Elixir”).
  • Non-proprietary or patented supplements that are good for your liver and overall health—such as fish oil (“Cheers Generics”).
  • A system of content and tools designed to help you understand how your alcohol-related habits are potentially affecting your health (“Liver Habits Score”).

The above is just a current look at what potential products are fitting for our company focused on alcohol-related health. We believe that this list will continue to grow over time as Cheers seeks to offer more & more products for different aspects of alcohol-related health.

As we continue to build and grow this category as a whole, it’s important to us that our future products & offerings reflect the desires and feedback of our customers and investors.

With that being said, we’ve created a short 2-minute survey and we’d love it if you’d participate and give your comments, thoughts, and ideas surrounding the future of alcohol-related health and Cheers’ role in shaping it.

We’re excited to see where this journey takes us, and we’re so glad you’re along for the ride! 🍻

Cheers,
